Institutional distance and Chinese investment efficiency in Africa: a stochastic frontier analysis

چکیده
Purpose This study aims to analyse the efficiency effects of institutional distance on Chinese outward foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa. Design/methodology/approach The utilised true fixed-effect stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) model. Data from 2003 2016 (14 years) were acquired 42 targeted African countries, which are included analysis. Findings results reveal that FDI flow can be maximised with a high between China and countries. Contrariwise, comparable distance, measured by rule law, regulatory quality government effectiveness host home reflected significant positive impact for (OFDIs), indicating MNEs invest directly country characteristics. Originality/value There have been limited exceptional studies assessed effect emerging However, none these investigated Africa at national level. Using advantage SFA model, this assesses country.

Institutional Environment and Technical Efficiency: A Stochastic Frontier Analysis of Cotton Producers in West Africa
This paper examines the effects of the institutional environment on West African cotton farmers’ technical efficiency (TE). First, key aspects of the cotton sector institutional environment are discussed, including input and credit access, and producers’ organisations. Then, a stochastic frontier production function, which incorporates technical inefficiency effects, is applied to farm level da...

Technical Efficiency of Teaching Hospitals in Iran: The Use of Stochastic Frontier Analysis, 1999–2011
Background Hospitals are highly resource-dependent settings, which spend a large proportion of healthcare financial resources. The analysis of hospital efficiency can provide insight into how scarce resources are used to create health values. This study examines the Technical Efficiency (TE) of 12 teaching hospitals affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) between 1999 and 2...
متن کاملStochastic Non-Parametric Frontier Analysis
In this paper we develop an approach that synthesizes the best features of the two main methods in the estimation of production efficiency. Specically, our approach first allows for statistical noise, similar to Stochastic frontier analysis, and second, it allows modeling multiple-inputs-multiple-outputs technologies without imposing parametric assumptions on production relationship, similar to...
متن کاملEfficiency of Secondary Schools in Portugal: a Stochastic Frontier Analysis*
The scores in the national examinations taken by students at the end of their secondary courses have received much public attention in recent years, partly justified by the importance they have among the criteria for admission to higher education. These scores also have been used to evaluate the performance of Portuguese schools offering secondary courses. The aim of this paper is to analyse su...
